Food in fashion: Vintage delicacies by GANNI
Danish fashion brand GANNI has thrown a retro party during Copenhagen Fashion Week with the an original catering handled by Laila Gohar.
Laila is famous for her originality when it comes to collaborations with fashion brands, always creating special and modern food designs.
In VOGUE interview Laila shared her inspiration for GANNI creation: “I wanted something opulent, decadent and retro—imagine a self-made mogul who is throwing herself the most fabulous divorce party in the early-1980s. Think lots of oysters, urchin, snow crab and shrimp towers!”
This surreal and contemporary artistic shrimp tower reminds us of the fantastic retro creation from the sumptuous 1974 cookbook of the famous surrealist Salvador Dalí—“Les Dîners de Gala”—reminiscent of the recipe “Bush of Crayfish in Viking Herbs”, a challenging pyramid of tiny crustaceans that is flavoured with parsley, tarragon, and dill.
Laila’s modern version was constructed with langoustine, roses, prawn crackers. Flaming Baked Alaska with a banana sundaes was served as a dessert.
