Food in fashion: Sunday breakfast with Jacquemus
It is January 2019, Sunday, Paris Fashion Week. Simone Porte Jacquemus presenting his second menswear collection in Palais de Tokyo; inspired by the french countryside rural living, he called the collection “Le Meunier” or “The Miller”.
The invitation arrived with a freshly baked small bread loaf, setting the mood for a show with a twist. It was almost a recreation of a typical day in a countryside, with the models arriving in trucks, casually settling around the common table to eat their breakfast.
Large dark wooden countryside table covered with grotesque loaves of bread, huge chunks of cheese, jams, butter, juices and buttery croissants; traditional french Comté cheese stealing the attention. All of the food was later to be enjoyed by the guests, experiencing a fashionable variation of “Miller’s breakfast”.
